Cobalt-based superalloys are based on cobalt as the main component, containing a considerable amount of nickel, chromium, tungsten and small amounts of molybdenum, niobium, tantalum, titanium, and lanthanum. Cobalt-based superalloys has excellent high temperature strength, and good sulfidation resistance. The alloy also has good sulfidation resistance and excellent metallurgical stability as displayed by its good ductility after prolonged exposure to elevated temperatures.
